This also allows you to focus on pumping up your Dexterity instead of your Wisdom so you have a much higher Defense Rating and Chance to Hit in Saber Combat. Consulars also gain +2 to the difficulty of their Force Powers at level 4, 8 and 12 to finish with a +6, which makes them very deadly with using Force Powers effectively. Consulars gain 4 vitality and 8/10 force points per level. Jedi Consular: It is best to think of a Consular like a wizard type class but with significantly higher defense. You could do a Strength/Dexterity Build but you are better off just focusing on Strength and Constitution and then wearing Heavy Armor to help increase your Defense Rating. Guardians are very limited in build options because they are really only good with a Saber so you have to use a Strength build to pump up their damage per swing. Guardians can also specialize further in attack feats to increase their damage with different types of weapons. The downside to this is that you will be out of range from your companions when combat starts so if you start getting killed your companions can NOT help heal you.

The only useful things that a Jedi Guardian get is the Force Jump Ability that allows you to jump insanely long distances to land a free attack against opponents. Guardians gain roughly 8/10 vitality and 4 force points per level. Jedi Guardian: The Jedi Guardian is your typical Conan the Barbarian moron sword fighter. Sentinels also maintain a decent change over in Skill Points so as you level you can still spend more points to increase your skills with Computer Use, Persuade, Treat Injury and Repair. The immunities they get also make them easier to gear and guarantee they are always actively fighting or healing every second of a battle where as a Guardian or Consular could get stunned, feared or paralyzed and not be able to participate in Combat or Healing for 1 or 2 rounds, which could potentially be the deciding factor to losing a major battle. Even if you don’t want to use Offensive Force Powers the added Force Point Gains allow Sentinels to do a lot of Saber fighting and still play the healer role by using Healing Force Powers. I personally love playing Sentinels because they are good at using the force and are also strong with Saber fighting. The Jedi Sentinel also gains natural immunities to the force so they become immune to Stun, Fear and Paralysis with 1 immunity granted every 4 levels so you’ll have all 3 immunities by the time you become a level 12 Sentinel. Jedi Sentinel: The Jedi Sentinel gains roughly 6 Vitality Points per level and 8 Force Points per level (it might actually be 8 vitality and 6 force) so they are geared for both Saber Combat and the ability to use Force Powers. In Knights of the Old Republic the Jedi Classes are exactly as I just described above but I’ll break it down a bit more for everyone… JEDI CLASSES Red, as you can probably guess pretty easily, is just the traditional color of any EVIL Sith (Darth Maul and Darth Vader both had RED Sabers). The Yellow Saber is the Sentinel, a Jedi that is basically balanced between affinity with the force and the ability to fight with a Saber. The Blue Saber is a Jedi Guardian who posses significantly weaker force powers and very strong skills with a Saber. Traditionally the Green Saber is a Jedi Consular, a Jedi that has a strong affinity with the force but lacks much skill with a Saber. In the Knights of the Old Republic games the Lightsaber colors actually have some meaning as they help identify the type of Jedi a Jedi is. In the prequel movies there were Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Violet and I think some other colors too. Those of you that are familiar with the Original Star Wars movies probably remember seeing Red, Greed and Blue lightsaber colors.
